ARC completely restored this Cheyenne II, complied with all required
inspections and installed
several new
avionic components. We completed the engineering work required to
remove the inner
main landing
gear doors and received STC approval. The new bleed-air heater
proto-type was
installed and
tested in this airplane as well. Then we refurbished the interior and
designed a new paint
scheme. Most
importantly we completed the engineering development work required to
install new
PT6A-135A
engines and Hartzell four blade propellers. This airplane will climb
from Sea Level to
29,000 feet in
14 minutes at gross weight!
Cruise speed was consistently 280 knots. Cabin noise was
reduced to jet
type levels. Range increased by
as much 250 miles.
Blackhawk
Modification in Waco, TX in currently installing the new
engines and propellers.
Since ARC completed the initial modifications we decided to continue to
improve the Cheyenne and
Navajo series airplanes by removing the inner main landing gear doors.
We devised a system to fair
the wheel well opening, there is no performance penalty, shake or
rumble. The gears go up and down
faster, the AD Notes goes away too. This STC was completed in mid 2005,
FAA-PMA part
manufacturing authority was accomplished and kits were made available
for less than the cost to
repair the old doors. It is a simple modification that takes about 25
to 30 hours to install. The kits
retail for $3,700.00, call for your FBO discount.
Our next project is to complete the STC to install a new bleed-air
heater in the same place
as the old
Janitrol
heater on the Cheyenne I and Cheyenne II. The proto-type has been
installed and is undergoing
required FAA
testing. We hope to have this completed and approved very soon. Price
is pending.
